RENE (Guatemala)
Tasting Notes : PECAN PIE, RAISIN GLOSETTE
This coffee is produced by Rene Munoz, brother of Gregorio Munoz whom you have already known for 3 years now.
A word from Gregorio Munoz (brother):
80 years ago, my great-grandfather planted his first coffee tree. Since then, it is the livelihood that allows us to survive. It is the only plantation in the region that can give us enough work to meet our needs.
Our sword of Damocles is mining, which we must constantly fight with the help of Mother Nature to defend our lands and prevent contamination of our environment.
Gregorio and Rene live in Las Mesas, one of the furthest villages from central Mataquescuintla. Perched at an altitude of 1900 meters, they cultivate a small plot of 3 hectares alongside their brother-in-law, Irineo Ramirez.
